As I am sure many of our residents may be aware, due to Storm Babet, a severe warning of flood and threat of damage to property has been extended for areas of North and East Scotland, including Angus, Dundee and Perthshire. Caledonia is taking this very seriously as we have a number of properties and schemes in these affected areas.

This note is to provide advice to our tenants on what to do in case of a flood or emergency caused by the storm.

Property Flooded:

If residents are actually flooded they are advised to immediately contact the emergency services and their local council as they are responsible for providing an emergency response. These agencies are in contact with Caledonia and are providing updates, however residents are also requested to contact Caledonia so that details of their situation can be recorded and follow up responses arranged.

Property at Risk of Flooding:

If residents are concerned about potential flooding they should contact their local council either by phone, email or by checking their website. The local council is responsible for identifying measures to manage flood risk and will help residents where they can. In emergency situations, such as presented by Storm Babet, Councils will focus on areas most in need. Councils provide flood advice on their websites which includes the contact numbers of agencies who can help. These can be accessed by following these links:

Property Damaged or Has Water Ingress

Caledonia frontline staff are also here to help and will arrange a contractor to attend if the issue faced by residents is damage to their property or rain water is getting into their home. They will arrange for a contractor to attend to rectify the issue. However given the extent of the severe weather these resources will be stretched and whilst we will try to help everyone we can our contractors may also have to focus on those in most need.

Please use our usual contact numbers to request property assistance:

Daytime: 0800 678 1228

Out of hours: 0800 783 7937

Residents are requested to note that if the water ingress or damage affects the roof, particularly roofs at height, our contractors will try to assist but may not be able to access external roof areas as this will be unsafe in high winds.

As I am sure many of our residents may be aware, due to Storm Babet, a severe warning of flood and threat of damage to property has been extended for areas of North and East Scotland, including Angus, Dundee and Perthshire.
